Cooper Shaw

A week ago today we had to take our little puppy to the Animal Hospital to be seen by a vet. When we came home from the Rodeo on Tuesday night, we found him outside on the back patio, surrounded by piles of bloody spit-up. He was wheezing and having trouble breathing. This continued through morning, so as soon as we were up, PP and I took him in. He was x-rayed and they found nothing in his tummy, however the vet believed that it could have possibly been caused by the cherries from our cherry tree out back. Apparently cherry pits (and all pits) have sionide in them, causing the body not to oxidize the blood, which went with his symptoms. Since she couldn't find any pits in his stomach, there was not cause for surgery, but also no proof that this is what was wrong with him.

Either way, he was given two different medicines and one week later, he seems to be back to his normal energetic self. Phew! We were pretty worried for a couple of days, but we are glad that he appears to be okay and we didn't have to deal with a very confused and sad child. Now what to do with our cherry tree...

oh no! how scary! our friends have a cherry tree and they have to put mesh muzzles on their labs during that time and they have to "stip" the tree when they are ripe so no more fall than are "necessary" and become dangerous to their labs. i hope you can come up with a solution. poor cooper...:( give him some belly rubs for us! miss you!!!
